Mirabai Rothrock-Daniels is a vocal musician, songwriter, storyteller, and recording artist. She has performed and teaches nationally and internationally, including appearances with the Big Band of Costa Rica, San Diego Symphony and at the Salt Lake City International Jazz Festival, Solidarity of the Arts Festival (Gdansk, Poland), Rimon School of Jazz (Israel), Crested Butte Music Festival, Aspen Music Festival, and the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, Tennessee. She has studied and performed in a wide variety of musical styles, ranging from Jazz, dance/theatre, and microtonal music, to World Music, chant, and original compositions. Concerts of this nature include work with Babatunde Olatungi, Martita Goshen’s Earthworks, Glen Velez, Steve Gorn, Max Roach, Eddie Daniels, Zuleikha, Coleman Barks, and the American Festival of Microtonal Music Ensemble. Her recordings of note include- “Microtonal Masterpieces of the 20th Century”, Newport Classics (NPD 85526); “Royal Tea of Love” and “Jewel of Wisdom”; Original Chants, produced with dancer/singer Zuleihka ,“This Love” - self-produced original settings of Middle Eastern ecstatic poetry, available at CDBaby.com.
