A place to break your writer's block
Inside Benildus is O’Shaughnessy Performance Space – commonly referred to as “the Garage,” because of its outside door that can raise up for increased seating (and atmosphere). Student readings are performed in O’Shaughnessy, and it also hosts visiting readers, musicians, and our weekly cross-departmental talent Forum.
The Student Writers’ Association headquarters is a space to brainstorm, critique work, plan events, open mics, mentoring sessions, and lunch time craft talks.
Student writers needing to hunker down in a quiet space to write have two rooms specifically designated as writing spaces for CWL students. Students can sign up to reserve space to work on their novels, short stories, poems, nonfiction, and screenplays. Each room has a large desk, a comfortable couch or chair, and a library of craft books for inspiration.
Alexis is equipped with a group of Macs reserved for CWL students. The publishing industry uses Macs almost exclusively, and our student writers use these computers to get hands on experience with publishing software and digital media!
