Mechele Hesbrook Dean Emeritus has 30 years higher education teaching and college administration experience. Professor Hesbrook has a BS degree in Vocational Education. She earned a MS in Visual Arts and Design from the University of North Texas and served on the UNT faculty for 11 years. In addition to UNT teaching experience, Professor Hesbrook has taught at Adams State in Colorado, and Santa Fe Community College where she was the Dean of Arts and Design, and retired after 16 years of service. She was instrumental in the Creation of the Red Dot gallery, a student run Art Gallery on the famous Canyon Road in Santa Fe, NM. She is an avid traveler and taught study abroad courses in France and Italy, Art and Design internship courses and created student field trips to Design Markets in Chicago, Dallas, Las Vegas and NYC. Currently she is on the faculty at SFUAD in Communications Design.
Professor Hesbrook teaches business and entrepreneurship classes in both the Communications Design and Business Administration departments and has taught design history and business courses, online using Blackboard and Canvas software, for over seven (7) years. She is a serial entrepreneur and co-owned American Indian Tea Company, Mechele’s Baby and currently VooVooDress.com an online e’tailer. Mechele is a business advisor for the SBDC-small business development center that provides assistance to small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs under the Small Business Administration -SBA.gov. Professor Hesbrook believes in preparing Art and Design students for the creative economy.
