Susan York teaches a variety of classes at SFUAD including Installation Art, Ceramics, Professional Practices and Internships. She is passionate about helping students transition successfully from graduation into arts related employment, graduate school or studio practice. In her classes she introduces students to renowned Santa Fe artists, arts professionals and institutions to help them enlarge their study and real world experience.
York’s sculpture and drawings are exhibited throughout the world including at the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum (Santa Fe, NM), Mies van der Rohe Haus (Berlin, Germany) and the Panza Collection (Lugano, Switzerland). Her work is in the collection of the Brooklyn Museum, Museum für Konkrete Kunst and the Beinecke Library at Yale University and has been published in in Art in America, The New York Times Magazine and Sculpture Magazine. She has lectured and taught at Harvard University, New York University, Pratt Institute, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Cranbrook Academy of Art and the University of Southern California. Susan York received her MFA from the Cranbrook Academy of Art and BFA from the University of NM. A longtime educator, York has taught at the Santa Fe University of Art & Design and the College of Santa Fe since 1998. As the President’s Chair in Art she is currently the head of the sculpture program at the Santa Fe University of Art and Design.
