In 1989, Village Voice critic J. Hoberman called Moritsugu’s first film Der Elvis, one of the “Top 50 films of the 80’s.” Since then, he has written and directed half a dozen features, PBS television comedy, film shorts, music videos, television commercials, and more. The work has garnered continued critical acclaim, numerous award citations, and film retrospectives. He has taught previously for numerous institutions including UC Berkeley and San Francisco State.
