Sage Paisner records family, friends and mentors using video and photography to bring forward the stories too often left out of mainstream history books and the media. The stories and images create a history that represents the struggles of the community. Paisner expands the idea of what a family album represents and how it operates and grows. He travels to communities of historical importance in Northern New Mexico, Navajo Nation, Los Angeles and South Dakota with a camera to document the people and the land. He serves as full-time faculty at California State Summer School for the Arts, and teaches other courses at Cal Arts.
