Camilla Mandler

Photography and Creative Writing

Born in a small midwestern town, Camilla Mandler, has spent most of her professional life in New York, Berlin and New England. After studies at the American College in Paris she returned to the US where she received a BS in Journalism from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Following a stint in the publishing world of New York City, she moved to Berlin, Germany where she became a technical editor and youth educator at the Hahn-Meitner Institut while pursuing graduate studies at the Freie Universität in International Relations/Environmental Science. She then became project manager for a small documentary film company where a highlight was a six-month, location-scouting trip from Berlin to Yugoslavia, then across the Bosphorus and covering all of Turkey and Syria. Throughout her time in Berlin she was a representative for Au Pair America, assisting young people who desired a work experience in America as well as those from around the world who wanted to work in Berlin. Upon returning to the US, she has worked primarily in tourism, first in New England and finally, for TOURISM Santa Fe.

Two fun facts: Camilla stood on top of the Berlin Wall the night it fell. During her time in Colorado, she climbed thirty-five of the state’s fifty-four 14,000’ peaks – threading her way among many of them on skis, carrying a heavy pack and camping in the snow.
