Robert Redford/Milagro Initiative Scholarship: Unique Voice

ROBERT REDFORD/MILAGRO INITIATIVE SCHOLARSHIP: UNIQUE VOICE

Via partnership with Academy Award winner Robert Redford and the Milagro Initiative, the Unique Voice scholarship aims to elevate suppressed voices of indigenous cultures from across the globe. The Unique Voices Scholarship is by far Santa Fe University of Art and Design’s most prestigious award, and requires the applicant to go above and beyond their standard portfolio application. Available in Fall only.


PROGRAMS

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film


ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

- Open to all new domestic and international students enrolling in The Film School. Transfer students are eligible.
- Candidates must submit an essay and/or video detailing why they want to become a Redford/Milagro Scholar.

  • Essay Submission Requirements:
    • 1,000 to 2,000 words
    • The essay should address one or several of the following topics:
      • Reasons for pursuing a degree in Film
      • Information on the candidate’s life
      • Past actions on behalf of Indigenous peoples and position on the importance of Indigenous voices in contemporary society
      • Candidate’s expectations for studying at SFUAD
      • Dreams for a post-graduate life/career in Film

    • Video Submission Requirements:

      • 2 to 5 minutes in length
      • The essay should address one or several of the following topics:
        • Reasons for pursuing a degree in Film
        • Information on the candidate’s life
        • Past actions on behalf of Indigenous peoples and position on the importance of Indigenous voices in contemporary society
        • Candidate’s expectations for studying at SFUAD
        • Dreams for a post-graduate life/career in Film

- In addition, we strongly recommend submitting a work of art that illustrates your vision; however, failure to submit a work of art will not exclude you from consideration.


OFFER AMOUNT AND LIFESPAN

100% tuition, room, board, and fees for the life of the program, up to 5 years.


STACKABILITY

This offer cannot be combined with any other scholarship or award.


HOW TO APPLY

Submit application, portfolio, essay/video, and optional creative work via SlideRoom.

Materials are then passed to Robert Redford and the Milagro Initiative for review. Selected candidate will be notified in early March, 2016.
