Art, Design and Photography Portfolio

Art, Design and Photography Portfolio

If you’re applying for acceptance into the Art Department (for both BA and BFA programs), you are required to submit a portfolio with 10-15 pieces of art. This work can represent class assignments as well as personal projects you’ve created within the past two years. It can include a range of materials and approaches, including 2D (drawing, painting, photography), 3D (sculpture, installation), and 4D media (video, animation, film). If your work wasn’t originally created in a digital form, be sure to photograph it digitally or convert it to digital so you can upload it to our system. There will also be a personal statement required, with questions available in SlideRoom.

If you’re applying for acceptance into the Graphic Design or Digital Art Department’s BFA program, you are required to submit a portfolio with 10-15 pieces of art. If you have taken graphic design courses or digital media courses, you are certainly invited to share this work. Because graphic design relies on a variety of skill sets, we are also very interested in seeing traditional 2D and 3D studio art (painting, drawing, sculpture, photography), as well as 4D projects (video, film, animation). If your work wasn’t originally created in digital form, please be sure to photograph it digitally or scan and convert your work to a digital file so you can upload it to our system. There will also be a personal statement required, with questions available in SlideRoom.

If you’re applying for acceptance into the Photography Department’s BA or BFA programs, you are required to submit a portfolio of 10-15 pieces of your best photographic work completed within the past two years. This work should represent creative personal projects but could also include class assignments. Your subject matter can span a wide range of approaches, including fine art, abstract, documentary, studio, figurative, etc. Select work that reveals your understanding of formal organizational elements, and be sure to show us ideas and work that you are passionate about. We are especially interested in viewing your photographic experiments even if you don’t feel the work is absolutely finished, because seeing your ideas and thoughts will provide insights into your potential future work. If your work wasn’t originally created in a digital form, be sure to convert it to digital so you can upload it to our system. There will also be a personal statement required, with questions available in SlideRoom.

You’ll submit your portfolio through SlideRoom as part of your online application.
