These remarkable performers will be giving a workshop at Santa Fe University of Art and Design on Monday, September 21, 2015. It will be held in The O’Shaughnessy Performance Space, Benildus Hall -151, from 1-2 p.m. The workshop is free of charge.

Alash are dynamic performers and educators who have given concerts and workshops all over the world. They are masters of Tuvan throat singing, a remarkable technique for singing multiple pitches at the same time. Though always staying true to the traditional roots of Tuvan throat singing, they subtly integrate more modern influences into their music. They have presented performances at venues ranging from Chicago’s Old Town School of Folk, Boston’s Club Passim to Carnegie Hall and have established the band as a touring force that truly knows no boundaries. They’ve also toured and collaborated with a diverse array of artists including Bela Fleck & the Flecktones. After a performance with the Flecktones the Denver Post commented, “As electrifying as the Flecktones’ performance was, the band were nearly upstaged by Alash Ensemble.”

“Utterly stunning.” - The Washington Post
