Exhibition Opening: “Trace Matter”

The second SFUAD@WadeWilsonArt exhibition will feature student, alumni, faculty and guest artist work

“Trace Matter,” will open March 13 from 5-7 p.m. and run through March 27. The first of the curatorial projects featuring SFUAD students, faculty and alumni, “Reverberant Matter,” was open through Feb. 27.

“Trace Matter” highlights work by SFUAD students, alumni, faculty, and guest artists, including Gage Peer, Lara Nickel, Edie Tsong, Luke Dorman, Caley Dennis, and Chase Stafford. The exhibition uses the lens of memory to consider work from artists across and within educational and community contexts. All of the featured artists bend their visual vocabularies to promote and indulge their unique investigations of personal history. The results not only challenge traditional artistic approaches—painting, drawing and sculpture—but also create a distinct, almost performative role for the viewer as they attempt to read those histories.
