The Screen will show the 2009 film, Julia & Julia starring Amy Adams and Meryl Streep.
The film was adapted by the 2005 New York Times bestseller Julie & Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously, written by Julie Powell. Visiting author, Powell, will give a brief introduction at the beginning of the screening.
Powell thrust herself from obscurity to cyber-celebrityhood when, in 2002, she embarked on an ambitious yearlong cooking and blogging expedition through all 524 recipes in Julia Child’s Mastering the Art of French Cooking. She detailed the experience in her critically acclaimed memoir.
On Tuesday, Sept. 16 Powell will host a reading and Q&A in O’Shaughnessy Performance Space at 7 p.m.
