In October, more than 100 parents, family members, and friends joined students on campus for a weekend chock-full of university-led and regional events. The weekend started on Friday night with a visit to “The Map Is Not the Territory,” an exhibition at the Fine Arts Gallery that featured artists exploring the intersections between cultures.
The hot event of the evening was the reception at the O’Shaughnessy Performance Space, where family and students mingled with faculty, staff and friends and danced to a student band. Later that evening, attendees headed to their choice of a movie at The Screen or a live performance Company at Greer Garson Theatre.
On Saturday, everyone was encouraged to explore the city of Santa Fe and visit the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. That evening, guests were invited to the Quad for BBQ and games—and even though there was an unexpected storm, guests stuck around for the fun. Later that evening, they visited Fogelson Library for a live student performance, “Painters, Poets, and Musicians.”
On Sunday, the Bon Voyage Brunch was particularly joyful, not only because of the photo booth, but as parents realized their students had found a campus family.
