Nearly 300 SFUAD Students, Staff, Faculty Volunteer in Santa Fe

Date published

Nearly 300 SFUAD students, faculty and staff recently participated in the annual CommUNITY Focus Day. The SFUAD volunteers were introduced to almost two dozen different non-profit organizations around the city of Santa Fe during Orientation Week. They spent a morning doing everything from an inventory project at SITE Santa Fe, where they were recording/listing various paint supplies; creating laser-cut paper ornamentation and other projects with Meow Wolf; making event banners and assisting with a face paint station at the Santa Fe Children’s Museum; helping with an art project in a pre-K class with United Way of Santa Fe County; preparing supplies to take into classrooms, organizing lesson boards and sorting materials at ARTsmart; to putting some finishing touches at a house with Habitat for Humanity and serving breakfast and sorting donations at the Salvation Army.

SFUAD has organized CommUNITY Focus Day for the past several years as another way to offer meaningful community engagement opportunities to its students and to promote the rewards of lifelong volunteering.

Thank you to all of the community organizations that accepted the SFUAD volunteers during this day!
