Three-way collaboration provides unique opportunity for local students
Santa Fe, NM—May 15, 2015— TOURISM Santa Fe, the Santa Fe University of Art and Design (SFUAD), and creative advertising agency Fuseideas announce a new collaborative, year-long intern program set to launch this month. The program will offer internships in photography, writing and film, and provide students with exposure to top industry professionals. Students will also participate in hands-on opportunities, working at the nexus of a leading destination marketing organization and a creative agency, branding and sharing the unique experiences of Santa Fe to a variety of international audiences. Throughout the program, SFUAD interns will interact with agency managers and creatives, shadow professional photography and video shoots, and present and create content to be published on TOURISM Santa Fe social media platforms, paid media executions and www.santafe.org. These hands-on experiences provide invaluable career insights and enable students to develop portfolios for professional employment after graduation.
“Santa Fe is a city of preeminent creative talent,” said Javier Gonzales, Mayor of Santa Fe. “The SFUAD internship program is the latest in our ongoing efforts to develop and retain local talent by delivering the national exposure and growth opportunities young people need to help tourism and other leading industries excel.”
Randy Randall, Executive Director for TOURISM Santa Fe, said, “To leverage the creative depth of Fuseideas with the Santa Fe knowledge and talent of our in-house staff while supporting SFUAD students is a natural focus for TOURISM Santa Fe. This program is one aspect of Fuseideas’ collaboration with the community, and we’re very excited to see results in increased tourism and in the career development of our youth.”
“This collaboration with the City of Santa Fe and the marketing and advertising professionals at Fuseideas aligns with SFUAD’s commitment to further enrich the community experiences for our students and to complement Mayor Gonzales’ and City Council’s desire to attract and keep young people in Santa Fe,” added Larry Hinz, President of Santa Fe University of Art and Design. “During the internship, SFUAD students will be exposed to valuable professional learning opportunities while highlighting The City Different through the lens of student photography and videography, and through the pen of student writers.”
The program has the flexibility to run a variety of projects with various lengths of internship to receive academic credit. A prospective intern must be enrolled in a curriculum leading to a baccalaureate degree of a substantially full-time basis, usually at least 12 semester hours or the equivalent, and be pursuing a major field of study related to the internship. Interns must also be at least 17 years of age, have earned at least a 3.0 overall average on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent, a grade of C or above in all major fields of study, and have an academic record that is predictive of graduation.
“Fuseideas is extremely excited about the partnership with the Santa Fe University of Art and Design,” said Dennis Franczak, CEO of Fuseideas. “The internship program will provide students with real-world experience at a global marketing and advertising agency. They’ll be involved in company meetings, concepting, and be an integral part in creating content that ties into our strategy for TOURISM Santa Fe.”
