Move In Day: Tuesday, August 23rd
Orientation Day: Thursday, August 25, 2016 (Kicks off in the DFC from 8 to noon; activities on campus all day.)
Classes Begin: Monday, August 29, 2016
What If I Need To Arrive Late?
If you are unable to arrive during the noted check in times, it is important that you contact the housing office BEFORE you arrive so that we can try to accommodate you. If you are not able to arrive by 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 25, you must notify University Housing of your late arrival. You can send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Otherwise, you may be considered a no-show, and risk losing your space and/or be assessed a cancellation fee.
What If I Need To Arrive Early?
If you are a member of an early arriving group, please ask your advisor or department chair to make sure your name is on the list. Approved students may sign up to arrive early without additional cost. Other than these prior approved, no early arrivals are allowed.
Odds And Ends
To get ready for your trip to Santa Fe, pack things that you’ll need right away when you get here. It’s also a good idea to pack items in crates or storage bins, which you can use later for room decoration or storage. Many retailers and department stores can ship your belongings directly to the university. Some stores like, Bed Bath and Beyond, Target, WalMart and K-Mart will allow you to purchase online or at your local store, and pick up your items in the store location here in Santa Fe. Be sure to check with your local and online retailer for more details.
Label your boxes as you pack so you’ll know what’s in them when you unpack. If you’re shipping items, write the contents on the inside flap of the box. Please do not ship your items to arrive more than 7 days prior to your arrival. You will be assigned your own mailbox number during Orientation.

Students must be checked out of their dorm rooms at the end of the spring semester. This is both for your safety, and for the security of the campus. We take the time after the spring semester to clean and repair rooms, to make sure they’re in perfect condition for your return in the fall!
For check out procedures, dates, and rules, please check with your RA who can also instruct you regarding specific guidelines. Remember, just like in a real apartment rental situation, you can be assessed fines for damage done to your dorm room, and failure to properly turn in your key. Proper check out makes it easier for your fellow students to go home on time, and makes it easier for you to move back in after the summer’s over.
