Polly Tapia Ferber is a performer, educator and recording artist specializing in hand percussion from the Middle East, Turkey, North Africa, the Balkans, and Spanish Andalucia. She performs regularly with the New York Middle Eastern Jazz band, Taksim, New York’s Albanian-American Ensemble, and Dolunay NYC. She has been an instructor at the East European Folklife Center’s annual Balkan camps in California and in New York since 1979, and has been an instructor in the Contemporary Music Program at College of Santa Fe / Santa Fe University of Art and Design since 1995. Polly travels to the Middle East, Africa, and Europe to study and work with renowned musicians. She travelled to Tunisia in 2014 to do research for an up-coming book on music and Sephardic Jews.
