Glazner Creative Writing Contest

The Glazner Prize for Creative Writing Contest is an opportunity for High School Seniors from the southwestern United States to compete for a chance at publication in Santa Fe University of Art and Design’s online journal, Jackalope Magazine. Two regional finalists will be selected to receive an Artistic Excellence Award to the Creative Writing program (worth $5,996 a year for all four years they are enrolled), their first semester creative writing textbooks, and publication in an early February addition of Jackalope Magazine.

To enter, students must be a high school senior and a legal resident of the following states: AZ, CA, CO, NV, NM, TX. Students must submit the following to no later than December 18th:

  • Up to 10 pages of work. All genres or combination of genres considered. Submissions must be in a DOC or RTF file format.
  • A cover letter that includes their full name, grade, mailing address, email, phone number, current high school, their English/ Creative Writing teacher, and 1-2 paragraph answer to the question: “What do you like to write and why?”

If selected as a winner, students must complete the application process and be fully admitted to SFUAD to be eligible for their scholarship and textbook awards.
