With nearly thirty years working professional experience as a designer and typographer, Nathan’s clients past/present include: Twin Palms Publishers, Random House, the Santa Fe Opera, the International Folk Art Museum, and the Kennedy Museum of American Art among others. She has taught design and typography at Ohio University School of Art, lectured at the National Institute of Design and the University of Baroda in India, as well as at the CAA conferences in both Massachusetts and Toronto and has been on the Santa Fe University’s faculty since 2002 when it was the College of Santa Fe. Her work has been published in Mothering Magazine, How Magazine, Letter Arts Review and Design 2K. She has received awards for her design including the Carl Hertzog Award for Excellence in Book Design, the Benjamin Franklin Award, the American Association of Museums Award, the AIGA book design award and the Ohio Museum’s Association Visual Communications Competition. Nathan wrote and designed a children’s book that was distributed by the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. She has worked on the book design of over seventy titles and continues her freelance career as a book designer specializing in fine and at times, playful typography.
