Sylvia Johnson’s expertise as an artist and an educator focuses on visual storytelling as a tool to inspire social change. Formerly an Adjunct Professor and the Corcoran College of Art and Design (2014), Sylvia is a Fulbright Scholar (2005-2006) as well as a Center for Environmental Filmmaking Scholar (2010-2012). She is a working documentary filmmaker and photographer, and runs a small production company called Free Roaming Studios. Her work has screened as an official selection at the International Documentary Association Awards, Aspen Shortsfest, Santa Barbara International Film Festival, DC Environmental Film Festival, Mountainfilm, Docutah, and National Geographic, as well as theatrically through Gathr Films. Her most recent film, Roaming Wild, won the Director’s Choice Award at the 2015 Sedona International Film Festival.
