Santa Fe University of Art & Design Board of Directors Appoints Dr. Christine Guevara as President
Dr. Guevara has focused on student success and engagement at the University for nearly 20 years
Santa Fe, N.M., July 17, 2017 – The Santa Fe University of Art and Design (SFUAD) Board of Directors announced today that Dr. Christine Guevara has been appointed President for the university. Dr. Guevara most recently served as the Executive Director of Students Services for SFUAD and has dedicated nearly 20 years of service to the success of our students.
“The Board recognizes that Dr. Guevara’s expertise in student services and operations and long-standing commitment to our university and our students’ success will ensure that our teach-out plan will be executed effectively, and importantly, that our students will remain at the center of this process,” said Susan Fairbairn, Chair, SFUAD Board of Directors. “She will remain focused on supporting our entire campus community through the final commencement in May 2018.”
Dr. Guevara is a proud alumni of College of Santa Fe, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities and her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration. With an EdD in Higher Education from the University of Liverpool, she brings nearly 20 years of excellence in leadership in higher education, focused on student success and engagement.
“Throughout her 19 year tenure with College of Santa Fe and SFUAD, Dr. Guevara has made significant contributions to the university, its faculty, staff and students. Her passion, experience and leadership has provided countless students with excellent academic guidance and engagement opportunities,” said Fairbairn.
Dr. Guevara joined the College of Santa Fe in 1998 as Systems Coordinator for the Admissions Office. She has remained with the university throughout its transition to Santa Fe University of Art Design.

We believe that Dr. Guevara’s academic leadership, strong experience with student engagement and operations, and her passion for the SFUAD campus community make her an excellent choice as the President of SFUAD moving forward.”
Dr. Guevara resides in Santa Fe, NM with her husband and two daughters. She has worked closely with both the SFUAD and local Santa Fe community, as well as with SFUAD’s educational and industry partners.
