Student Facilities for Student Activities

While all of our departments have their own specific facilities, certain areas are best for Student activities – all of these locations can be reserved for activities with the Student Life department, or via the Student Programming Board.

The Bandshell/The Quad

Located in the center of campus, the Bandshell can be used at any time by performers who want to host concerts, readings, dances, or other activities in fair weather. It is framed by several free-use graffiti walls, which can be used at any time, as well as our Shepard Fairey mural, which is a permanent installation on The Quad. Whether it’s our annual spring battle of the bands, or our Pride Week celebrations, the Quad can host it all!

O’Shaughnessy Performance Space

Inside Benildus, this performance space is available whenever a class or scheduled academic event isn’t taking place. Fully equipped for readings or musical performances, O’Shaughnessy is most frequently used by students during the weekly Forum event. If you have a song you want to test in front of your peers, a poem to read, or a monologue to run, Forum is the place to show it off to your fellow students.

The Screen

Every night of the week, our on-campus movie theatre hosts a student-run movie night. Themes range from Sci-Fi/Horror to independent films, foreign films to new releases. The Screen can also host video game marathons (it has a PlayStation hookup), Netflix viewings, and screenings of students’ work.

The Southwest Annex

Student clubs looking for a place to meet often find their way to the Southwest Annex – a private space on campus with ample seating, perfect for our Tabletop Gaming club or meetings of Colors, the LGBT group. It’s also attached to one of our fine art galleries.

The Forum

If The Screen is unavailable, The Forum is the next place to go for movie watching – it’s a classroom for film students during the day, but at night, it’s been known to host Harry Potter marathons and episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender. The setting is a little more casual, so it’s perfect for everything from Mock Debates to rehearsals for our Rocky Horror Picture Show shadowcast.
